Arnold Freiherr von Schele (born July 5, 1849 in Schelenburg ; † August 21, 1922 there ) was the manor owner, officer and member of the German Reichstag .

origin

His parents were the major a. D. and District Administrator Ludwig Ernst Unico Georg von Schele (born June 4, 1796 - December 1, 1870) and his third wife Mathilde von Landesberg (born February 19, 1822), daughter of the Hanoverian Lieutenant General Ludwig von Landesberg .

Life

From 1864 onwards, Schele attended the Royal Hanoverian Cadet Corps . In 1866 he was a lieutenant in the Royal Hanoverian Guard - Regiment and took in the same year during the war against Prussia at the Battle of Langensalza part. In 1867 he took his leave and on April 1, 1867 joined the 2nd Grenadier Regiment No. 101 of the Saxon Army as a lieutenant . He took part in the war against France in 1870/71, was in the meantime prime lieutenant and was awarded the Iron Cross II. Class and the Knight's Cross I of the Order of Albrecht with Swords for his achievements during the war . In 1875 Schele was promoted to captain and company commander . In 1887 he became a staff officer in 3rd Infantry Regiment No. 102 and in 1888 battalion commander. In 1891 he resigned as a major . Afterwards he was the owner of the manor in Wunstorf and Stadthagen .

From 1892 Schele was active in the German-Hanoverian party (committee, newspaper committee) and from 1894 member of the board of directors of the German-Hanoverian party, from 1908 chairman of the same. He was also a member of the committee of the German Right Party from 1894. From 1911 he was a member of the district council of the Osnabrück district .

From 1898 to 1907 and from 1912 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Hanover 7 ( Nienburg , Neustadt am Rübenberge , Fallingbostel ) and the German-Hanover party .

He was holder of the Knight's Cross II. Class of the Ernst August Order , the Langensalza Medal , the War Memorial 1870/71 , the Red Eagle Order IV Class, the Crown Order IV Class and the Saxon Service Award Cross for 25 years of activity.

family

Schele married the baroness Sylvie von Reibnitz on October 2, 1875 in Dresden (born March 8, 1853). The couple had several children.
