Occurrence and endangerment

The main distribution to Oberdorfer is pre-alpid. The Bavarian star umbel occurs in the montane-subalpine deciduous and coniferous forest area of the European high mountains . There are sites in Germany , Austria , Liechtenstein , Italy and in the former Yugoslavia. In the Northern Limestone Alps from the Karwendel to the east in the North Tyrolean Alps to the Inn , in the southern Limestone Alps in Styria it occurs rarely, but locally in smaller stocks. It occurs in the Carnic Alps and the Karawanken .

The Bavarian Sterndolde needs clay soils containing lime and humus . It colonizes mountain meadows and grassy areas in sparse layers of laying pines as well as in tall herbaceous areas . It is a Seslerietalia-order character, but also occurs in societies of the Poion alpinae, Nardion or Adenostylion.

The Red List of Endangered Species Bavaria 2003 classifies the Bavarian star umbel as very rare. Within Germany, Bavaria bears sole responsibility for the conservation of this species. According to the Red List Germany 1996, the Bavarian star umbel is considered safe.
