action
The two geniuses Umatarō Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu have spent endless amounts of time looking for a robot with feelings and in the process created the robot A106. While Tenma wants to prove his power and superiority by doing this, Ochanomizu sees A106 much more as a friend. Together with A106, the two contest their everyday life and their work on campus and later compete in a robot competition.
Characters
- Umatarō Tenma (太郎 午 太郎 Tenma Umatarō): Tenma studies robotics with Ochanomizu and Tsutsumi . Obsessed with developing a robot with human characteristics, he has teamed up with Ochanomizu as both have similar levels of intelligence and pursue the same goal, albeit with different interests. So he shows himself energetic and self-assured and puts his need for power and success above that of A106.
- Hiroshi Ochanomizu (博士 茶 の 水 博士 Ochanomizu Hiroshi): Ochanomizu is studying robotics with Tenma and is working with him on A106 to create a human-like robot. In contrast to Tenma, however, he shows himself to be more compassionate, more emotional and with less self-confidence. The well-being of A106 and those around him is more important to him than his own success.
- A106 / Six (シ シ ス Shikusu): A106 or Six is a humanoid robot developed by Tenma and Ochanomizu. His artificial intelligence is limited, but his emotional abilities have developed rapidly for it. He has some physical strength, but only uses it for self-defense . He is able to feel pity and be able to communicate in cars .
- Moriya Tsutsumi (也 販 理 也 Tsutsumi Moriya): He is the rival of Tenma and Ochanomizus at the university. He's a mysterious child prodigy who even built his own extended wheelchair.
- Motoko Tsutsumi (斗子 浮 斗子 Tsutsumi Motoko): She studies with Tenma and Ochanomizu at the same faculty and supports them in their research. She is Moriya's younger sister and is mostly fashionable, open-minded and helpful.
- Ran Ochanomizu (お 茶 の 水 蘭 Ochanomizu Ran): Ran is Hiroshi's 14-year-old sister, who especially likes A106 because he has protected her. She is a strange and reserved young girl at times who doesn't talk to people she doesn't trust.
- Hige Oyaji : He is a private detective for Tenma and Ochanomizu offers to help him with his investigations for money so that they can finance their research. Later he befriends the students.
