Attila Borsos (born January 6, 1973 in Gheorgheni ) is a former Romanian ice hockey player who played a large part of his career with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in the Hungarian ice hockey league and the Interliga .

Career

Club

Attila Borsos, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania , began his career as a hockey player with Lehel HC Jászberény in the Hungarian league . In 1995 he moved to league rivals DAB-Docler with which it 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002 Hungarian champion and 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 Cup winner was. In 2008 he returned to his hometown, where he played for a good six months for the CS Progym in the MOL league . International

In contrast to other Szeklers who compete for Hungary , Borsos plays internationally for his native Romania . He first took part in the U18 B European Championships in 1990 and 1991 . In 1993 he took part in the U20 B World Cup with the Romanian juniors.

He made his debut in the men's national team at the 1997 World Cup . In 1998 and 1999 he also played in group C. After switching to the current division system, he played for Romania at the World Championships in Division II in 2001 and 2008 , when he was elected the most valuable player of the tournament as top scorer and third-best scorer behind his compatriots Cătălin Geru and Ioan Timaru , as well as Division I in 2002 and 2003 .

He also played for Romania in the qualifying tournament for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
