Auen is a district of Villach and is located in the southeast of the city.
location
The district extends with 493 hectares between the Gail and the Drau . Auen is named after the former Au there.
The district includes the counting districts Auen (20201 12) and Waltersdorf (20201 10).
history
The old Muldensiedlung was also known - simple, small, one-story, elongated houses with 2 rooms each that were built after the war and existed until 2008. Since 1994/95 they have been successively replaced by more modern apartment blocks, today's new "Muldensiedlung".
This place, like many other parts of the city, used to be a social hotspot.
Economy and Transport
Today Auen is a typical suburb with houses and apartment blocks, and there is also trade and industry in Auen. There are numerous shops in Auen, such as the Atrio , many of which are on Maria-Gailer-Straße, as well as a cinema .
In 2005 , the road called GAV was opened to relieve the Ossiacher line, the tangent of the city of Villach, which leads from the Atrio to Landskron and thus connects large parts of the city.
Infineon's factories are located in Auen . The large city garden of the city of Villach is also located here.
Infrastructure and education
There is a higher technical college and a secondary school , which was renovated in 2002.
