The nature reserve Auf dem Hausgiebel is located in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate .

description

The approximately 32 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 2003 , is located in the district of Maßweiler in the Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben community . It extends west of the state road 466 approximately in the middle between Maßweiler and the Pirmasens airfield .

Protection purpose

Protection purpose of the nature reserve Auf dem Hausgiebel is the maintenance, development and restoration of limestone grasslands and extensive grassland in this area. This also includes the preservation of the local trees, hedges, and forest and forest fringes. These are habitats of rare and partly endangered wild animal species.

The networked biotope system of the limestone grasslands of the Zweibrücken hill country is to be preserved for scientific reasons in addition to its special character and beauty.
