The Brauntal nature reserve is located in the Südwestpfalz district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 71 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1984 , extends southwest of the local community of Rumbach . The state road 478 runs not far north of the area, the state border with France runs south and the Königsbruch nature reserve extends not far to the west .
