August Adam Heinrich von Bismark (born January 16, 1739 in Schönhausen ; † February 23, 1813 in Rathenow ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the body carbine regiment , since 1800 lord of Schönhausen II and half of Schönhausen I.

Life

origin

He was the son of Alexander Wilhelm von Bismarck (* September 12, 1704; † March 18, 1793) and his wife Sophie Auguste Wilhelmine, born von Treskow (* November 24, 1721; † November 22, 1798). His mother was the daughter of Lieutenant Field Marshal of the Franconian Imperial Circle Adam Friedrich von Tresckow (1667–1732) and his wife Charlotte Wilhelmine von Watzdorf . His father was a Prussian Rittmeister a. D. and Canon in Havelberg .

Military career

Bismark became a Standartenjunker in the body cuirassier regiment on September 11, 1753 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen and Zorndorf and rose to cornet on January 12, 1757 , and to lieutenant on April 16, 1759.

After the war, he became staff assistant master on April 1, 1768 and captain and company commander on June 5, 1770 , and major on July 22, 1778 . As such, Bismark took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . Then he rose on June 8, 1787 to lieutenant colonel and on May 10, 1789 to colonel . On May 10, 1790 he became commander of the Leibkarabinerregiment. During the revue in Körbelitz , Bismark received the order Pour le Mérite on May 30, 1791 .

In the First Coalition War he took part in the cannonade of Valmy , the siege of Mainz and the battles of Saarbrücken and Meckenheim. On January 9, 1794 he was promoted to major general and on December 29, 1794 he was chief of the body carbine regiment. On May 23, 1796, he and his regiment were transferred to the observation army in Westphalia. On May 20, 1800 he was promoted to lieutenant general. On September 11, 1803, he celebrated his fiftieth anniversary of service and received the Order of the Red Eagle . As of September 20, 1805, he is no longer on the field budget and on September 15 he receives permission to move to his relatives in the countryside. After the lost war of 1805 , he received his resignation and a pension of 1200 thalers on August 30, 1807 , but only half is paid, his sons should be reinstated.

He married Charlotte Frederike von Angern in 1765 (* October 27, 1741, † June 26, 1804). She was a daughter of the Prussian District Administrator Gebhard von Angern (1726–1791). The couple had fourteen children:

After the death of his first wife, Bismark married Louise Amalie Hotzen on September 3, 1807 (* May 6, 1779). She was a daughter of the Royal British and Electoral Hanoverian majors Georg Dietrich Hotzen and Friederike Georgine Wilhelmine Hagemann. The marriage remained without children.
