August Heinrich Plinke

August Heinrich Plinke (born April 14, 1855 in Fallersleben , † October 27, 1915 in Hameln ) was a German journalist , painter and illustrator .

Life

Plinke studied from 1875 to 1878 at the art academy in Weimar with Ferdinand Schauss and Alexander Struys and from 1898 to 1899 at the art academy in Berlin . He later worked as an illustrator, particularly in the field of children's literature. He lived in Berlin and for some time in Hanover at Brüderstraße No. 2. In the 1890s, he wrote in various Hanover daily newspapers as an architecture critic, in which he repeatedly formulated sharp attacks against speculative housing construction :

"Internally unsound, common outdoors but with cheap surrogate] s beklitscht and set adorns these buildings were only calculated to the unfortunate buyer in a blinding to the untrained eye, the inferior goods envelope to make it appear acceptable."

Plinke was a co-founder of the Lower Saxony Heimatbund .
