This article covers the men's singles at the 1950 Australian Championships . The winner of the tournament was the Australian defending champion Frank Sedgman , who defeated his unseen compatriot Ken McGregor in four sets (6: 3, 6: 4, 4: 6, 6: 1) in the final . This was the first time since the seed list was introduced in 1937 that an unseeded player was in the final. The top seeded Egyptian Jaroslav Drobný failed in the 3rd round to McGregor.
