The 38th Australian Championship was a Grand Slam tennis grass court tournament hosted by the ILTF . It took place January 21-30, 1950 in Melbourne , Australia .
The defending champions in the singles were Frank Sedgman for the men and Doris Hart for the women. In the men's doubles were John Bromwich and Adrian Quist , in the women's doubles Thelma Long and Nancye Bolton were the defending champions. In mixed, Doris Hart and Frank Sedgman were the defending champions.
