Auxon-Dessus is a village and a commune déléguée in the French commune of Les Auxons with 1,159 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .
geography
Auxon-Dessus is located at 247 m , about eight kilometers northwest of the prefecture Besançon and 70 km east of the city of Dijon (as the crow flies). The area of the 3.88 km 2 area of the former municipality extends on a hill above (French: dessus ) the district Auxon-Dessous and the brook Ruisseau d'Auxon , a tributary of the Ognon . Outside the built-up settlement (24%), the communal land is used for agriculture (32%) and is covered by forests in the north (40%).
history
The area of Auxon-Dessus was already settled in Roman times and was crossed by the road connection from Besançon to Langres . During excavations and road construction work in the 20th century, building floor plans and a meter-thick layer of rubble appeared. In the High Middle Ages , the village was first mentioned in 1133 as Ausonio .
With effect from January 1, 2015, the municipalities of Auxon -Dessus and Auxon-Dessus were merged to form the Commune nouvelle called Les Auxons. The administrative seat is in Auxon-Dessus. The municipality of Auxon-Dessus belonged to the arrondissement Besançon and the canton Besançon-3 .

Before the municipal merger, Auxon-Dessus had the code INSEE 25035 and last had 1171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). This made Auxon-Dessus one of the smaller communities in the Doubs department. Its population was in the region of 200 in the 19th and first half of the 20th century, and only since the last quarter of the 20th century has a strong and sustained increase in population been recorded due to its proximity to the Besançon agglomeration.
Economy and Infrastructure
In the 20th century, Auxon-Dessus developed from an agricultural village into a residential community, whose employees work as commuters in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Besançon area.
The village is not far from the N57 between Vesoul and Besançon, from which a junction leads to the two districts of Auxon-Dessus and -Lessous. The next motorway connection to the A36 is around 5 km away. In Auxon-Dessus, the Besançon Franche-Comté TGV train station is on the LGV Rhin-Rhône high-speed line .

In Auxon-Dessus there is a state école primaire (elementary school with an integrated preschool ).
