Road map

The Avenida Marginal begins in the west of the center of Dili, where the Avenida Nicolau Lobato and the Avenida de Motael converge. On the north side there is still part of the harbor, before the promenade begins with the beach in front of which there are sometimes fishing boats. The strip of land belongs to Suco Motael , while the south side belongs to Suco Colmera . Both sucos are part of the Vera Cruz Administration Office .

After the Rua de Moçambique , the building of the Sporting Clube de Timor is located on the south side . This is followed by the Rua do Palácio do Governo, the forecourt of the East Timorese government palace with the monument to Henry the Navigator , which was erected in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Henry's death.

To the west of Avenida Xavier do Amaral , in Suco Bidau Lecidere ( Nain Feto administrative office ) is the Casa Europa with the representation of the European Union and further east is the building of the Associação Comercial Chinesa , which today houses the State Secretariat for Youth and Sport ( Portuguese Secretaria Estado da Juventude e do Desporto ) is located. Opposite this is the Jardim Lecide , a park that is interrupted from time to time. For example, across from the Associação Comercial Chinesa from the headquarters of the naval police ( Policia Maritima in Portuguese ) and near the end of Avenida Marginal from the Bazar Ai-fuan, the fruit market. Hotel Dili and the World Bank Complex follow on the south side. After Rua de Bemori , on the south side of the street, there is Praça da Imaculada Conceição with a fountain and the Mother of God monument . After the Travessa de Lecidere , to the south is the residence of the Bishop of Dili and the Hotel Novo Turismo . The Avenida Marginal ends at the River Mota Bidau , crosses the bridge. The Avenida Dom Martinho Lopes continues to the south. After the bridge Ponte BJ Habibie over the Mota Claran , the Avenida Santana begins .
