Büttelsen was a settlement first mentioned in a document in 1180 in what is today the district of the north Hessian city of Wolfhagen , district of Kassel , which was mentioned for the last time in 1435 and had probably already fallen in desolation at that time .

Geographical location

The small village was located about 5 km southeast of Wolfhagen at 353  m above sea level at the eastern foot of the Isthaberg in the district of Istha , a district of Wolfhagen, about midway between Istha in the south, Oelshausen in the east and Wenigenhasungen in the north-northeast. Today the L3312 state road runs around 200 meters east from Istha in the south to Altenhasungen in the north.

The former Feldmark , still used for agriculture today, has been divided between Istha, Oelshausen and Wenigenhasungen since the village was abandoned. About 1.2 km north-northeast of Istha, the official field name "Zu Büttelsen", in dialect "Im Büttelschen", reminds of the disappeared village.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1180 when the abbot Adalbert von Hasungen certified that he had acquired a hoof in Büttelsen ( Bucellissen ). Subsequently, the place is found only rarely and with different names in remaining documents: Bucelessen (1200–1230), Botelschen (1424) and Buttelsen (1435, 1510). The tithe from the field mark divided among the three neighboring villages belonged to St. Petri-Stift in Fritzlar .
