BDO World Trophy 2018

The BDO World Trophy 2018 was the total of the fifth edition of the BDO conducted Darts -Major events, which from May 30 to June 3, 2018 in the Preston Guildhall in Preston ( England was held).

As defending champions Peter Machin went into the tournament for the men and Aileen de Graaf for the women. De Graaf failed in the first round of the women's tournament to Maria O'Brien . In the end, Fallon Sherrock won the title . Machin had to admit defeat to Michael Unterbuchner in the quarterfinals . This lost the final against Glen Durrant .

Format & qualification

32 players took part in the tournament. The 25 best players qualified via the BDO ranking list . The field of participants was supplemented by the previous year's winner, two regional qualifiers and the four winners of a qualification tournament. The 16 best players in the world rankings were set for the first round. The remaining players were drawn to the other players.

The tournament was played in a knockout system . The first two rounds were played in the best of 11 legs mode and the quarter-finals in the best of 13 legs mode. A maximum of 15 legs was then required to win the semi-final, while the final was played in the best of 19 legs mode.

Format & qualification

As in previous years, 16 players take part in the women's tournament. The 14 best-placed players in the BDO Invitation Table are eligible to participate . There are also two other players who previously went through a qualifying tournament. All players start in the first round, in which the eight best-placed darters in the BDO Invitation Table are placed and the remaining players are drawn.

In round 1 and in the quarter-finals, the best of 7 legs mode was played. The semifinals were contested in the best of 9 legs mode and the final in the best of 11 legs mode .
