The BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt is a former company sports association in the East German city of Schwedt / Oder . After numerous previous restructurings, it received its final name in 1977. In the course of its existence, the BSG developed into one of the largest company sports associations in the GDR, with up to 3600 members at times. In handball, Chemie PCK played in the highest women's handball league in the GDR in 1980/81 . Structural development

The history of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie PCK Schwedt goes back to the year 1949. In that year the two company sports associations BSG Kommunales Wirtschaftsunternehmen (KWU) and BSG Erdöl were founded on June 26th. As a result of a carrier change, the BSG KWU was transferred to the BSG Traktor on May 10, 1950. This in turn joined together with BSG Bau der Jugend, founded in 1959, on April 2, 1964, to BSG Erdöl. On August 1, 1977, BSG Erdöl was renamed BSG Chemie PCK with reference to the carrier company Petrolchemisches Kombinat Schwedt . After the political change in 1990 , the company sports community split into the two registered clubs FSV PCK 90 and SSV PCK 90.

Men

In 1946, athletes from the small town of Schwedt founded the Schwedt sports group, which in 1949 as part of the reorganization of East German sports in the form of company sports associations (BSG) became the BSG KWU Schwedt, which was transferred to the BSG Traktor in 1950. Their football team rose in 1952 to the fourth class district class Frankfurt (Oder) , where they could assert themselves until 1956. It was not until 1958 that it was promoted again to the district class, which in the meantime was only the fifth division due to the introduction of the 2nd GDR League. At the beginning of the 1960 season (calendar year season) the football section switched to the newly founded BSG Rotation Schwedt, and the first team was relegated again to the district class. The return to the district class took place within one season, so that the BSG rotation played again in the district class in the next seasons. This was fourth class again from 1963/64 after the 2nd GDR League had been discontinued. In 1965 the BSG rotation succeeded in advancing to the district league . During the 1965/66 season, the football section merged with BSG Erdöl Schwedt to form the new BSG Aufbau Schwedt. The footballers of BSG Aufbau first appeared nationwide in 1971 when they reached the main round of the FDGB Cup , but lost 2-0 to Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt . In 1973, he was promoted to the second-rate GDR league , which at that time was divided into five seasons. In the league season B first succeeded in relegation. Also in the FDGB Cup, BSG Aufbau reached the second round for the first time in 1974 with a 2-0 win over Vorwärts Neubrandenburg , but then retired from TSG Wismar . In the second league year, the BSG rose from bottom of the table again in the district league Frankfurt / Oder. After only one year, the company was able to rise again immediately. After that, the team of the BSG Aufbau from 1976 until the new league reform in 1984 belonged to the GDR league without interruption. In the meantime, the footballers had switched to the newly founded BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt in 1977. In the twelve-team GDR League Season B, the Schwedter never did worse than 7th. 1979/80 even the second relay place was booked. The original team at that time had the following appearance:

Holger Keipke
(18 missions, 28 years)
Joachim Bliefert (22/26)
Jürgen Scheel (20/28), Christian Stoll (19/28), Harry Rath (22/23)
Jochen Käppler (20/32), Erhard Bogs (22/30), Bernd Feddeler (17/27)
Joachim Jeremiasch (16/28), Wolfgang Hefter (22/30), Andreas Weichert (22/25)

Coach Josef Pellert used a total of 19 players in the 22 championship games, with an average age of 26.6 years. The starting eleven had an average of 27.7 years. This season, the sports field on Albert-Bartel-Strasse, which at that time had a capacity of 5,000 spectators, had an average of 2,100 visitors per game.

In the 1979/80 season BSG Chemie and SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde fought a duel victory in season B. While Schwedt still had a lead of four points before the last eight match days (2-point rule), Chemie was the last Matchday outstripped by SG Dynamo. In the 1981 FDGB Cup, after victories at Elektronik Neuruppin, TSG Bau Rostock and Vorwärts Neubrandenburg, they made it into the round of 16, where they were eliminated 1: 3 at Vorwärts Frankfurt . Seventh place in 1983/84 was no longer enough for relegation, since from 1985 the GDR league only played with two seasons. In 1987 BSG Chemie was Frankfurt district champion, but failed in the promotion round to the GDR league. 1989-90, the last season before the District League was turn conditional accession of the DFV for DFB reached the BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt second place, but missed again in the promotion round to move up to the newly established NOFV-League . The BSG used the municipal sports field on Albert-Bartel-Straße (now the “Heinrichslust” stadium), which at that time had 5000 seats. In July 1990 the company sports association was dissolved, the previous soccer section was converted into the soccer sports club PCK 90 Schwedt on July 24, 1990. He took over the place of the BSG in the new state league Brandenburg.

Women

A women's soccer team was founded for the first time in 1977 at BSG Aufbau Schwedt. She also moved with the men to BSG Chemie PCK that same year. While the women could not qualify for the GDR-wide championship first held in 1979, known as the determination of the best in women's football , the women of the BSG Chemie PCK started as champions of the Frankfurt (Oder) district in the determination of the best in 1980 . After two victories in the preliminary round over Motor Köpenick (1-0) and NGMB Neubrandenburg (2-1), Schwedt qualified for the final with five teams. BSG Chemie PCK only won two of the four final rounds and only came fourth in the final round. In 1981, the BSG was eliminated in the preliminary round, but in 1982 they became vice-champion. In 1983 a third place was achieved again, after which Chemie PCK did not make it into the finals.

Handball

On October 1, 1959, the BSG Bau der Jugend founded the first handball section, which later took over the BSG Erdöl under the name BSG Chemie PCK. The handball players managed in the 1976/77 season as BSG Erdöl Schwedt promotion from the district league to the GDR league. The handball players went into the first GDR league season as BSG Chemie PCK and kept their class through seventh place. After they had occupied fourth place in the 1978/79 season, the players secured the championship title in the North Season in the following season and were promoted to the GDR Oberliga . After only one season and not winning any points, the team and co-promoted BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt were relegated. After relegation, the team from Schwedt was able to keep the class by a ninth place in the GDR league. The handball players finished the 1982/83 season in 10th place and had to fight for relegation in the decider against the BSG Pedagogical Unit Leipzig and were able to successfully prevail against the Leipzig team. In the 1984/85 season there was again a decider for relegation, this time against the HSG DHfK Leipzig , and relegation could again be prevented. In the following season, relegation to the district league could no longer be prevented. In the season 1987/88 the Schwedt handball players managed to return to the GDR league, but had to relegate back to the district class after one season. In 1990 the handball section split off from BSG Chemie PCK and founded SSV PCK 90 Schwedt . In 1991, the women's team made it into the first all-German season of the 2nd Bundesliga .

Other sports

In addition to football and handball, BSG Chemie PCK maintained numerous other sports sections in its heyday, such as archery, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, canoeing, bowling, cycling, rowing, swimming, tennis and volleyball. In 1979 the boxers were GDR team cup winners and in 1988 they won the team championship. In tennis, the only thirteen-year-old Gritt Schneider became GDR double champion alongside Sonja Feldhahn from Rostock.
