Baßlitz is a district of the municipality of Priestewitz in the district of Meißen in Saxony .

Geography and transport links

The place encompassing an area of 386 hectares is about three kilometers southeast of the core town Priestewitz on the county road 8553 . The Leipzig – Dresden railway line runs through the town . The B 101 runs west.

The Bierlichtbach , a tributary of the Hopfenbach , flows on the eastern edge of the village.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1262 as Paseliz . The place name is interpreted as "settlement where traps were set up" . Other forms of the place name were in the course of time: Paselitz (1285), Baselitz (1350), Paßlicz (1406), Baseliz (1555), Baslitz (1791) and finally Baßlitz in 1875. The place was once laid out as a lane village with a block - and Gewanneflur .

There have been a few changes of ownership over the centuries. Originally still subject to the cathedral monastery of Meissen , the place paid prayers for Hayn in 1406 . In the second half of the 18th century , Baßlitz came to the manor in Proschwitz.

Ecclesiastically, the place, which in 1406 comprised a size of 16 hooves, was incorporated into Wantewitz since 1540 and the children of the village also first attended the local school. The village received its own school in 1859, which was rebuilt again in 1887. Around 1826 there are 124 inhabitants here and Baßlitz had a size of 22 hooves.

On January 1, 1950, the previously independent municipalities Böhla b. Geißlitz and Geißlitz incorporated. Since January 1, 1999, Baßlitz has been part of the Priestewitz community .

Culture and sights

Several historical monuments and buildings are recorded in the local list of monuments. Among other things, there are two stables in the Gävernitzer Strasse 16 and 22, which are listed as historical monuments and date back to 1788 and 1800. Both buildings were partly built in half-timbered construction . A side building of a former four-sided courtyard at Gävernitzer Straße 1, which was previously used as a storefront, is also under monument protection. This house was also partly built in half-timbered construction in the middle of the 19th century. Other architectural monuments are a largely original mill ensemble at Gävernitzer Straße 12, whose house with a hipped roof dates from 1846 and a historic stone from the 19th century.

Active local clubs are the Sportverein Baßlitz eV , the Seniors Club Baßlitz and the local group of the volunteer fire brigade founded in 1945 .
