Babarc ( German Bawarz , Croatian Babrac ) is a Hungarian municipality in the Bóly district in Baranya County .
Location and surroundings
Babarc is located in southern Hungary in a valley of the Branau hill country on the small river Borza-patak . Larger places in the area are Bóly and Mohács . Pécs (Fünfkirchen) is the next larger town with a university . The borders to Croatia and Serbia are also only about 30 km away.
history
Ground monuments found near Babarc indicate a late Roman settlement.
Babarc was first mentioned in a document in 1015.
From the 18th to the 20th century, Babarc was mainly of German descent and -speaking because the community was populated by Danube Swabians .

The secondary road no. 56113 runs through Babarc, the main road no. 57 one kilometer south of the village. The nearest train station is about 15 kilometers east in Mohács.
