The Agualva / Cacém train station (also Agualva-Cacém train station ) is a train station in the city ​​of the same name in the Portuguese district of Lisbon . It is located at the junction of the Linha do Oeste from the Linha de Sintra and is served by various CP train categories .

history

The station was opened on April 2, 1887, when both the Linha de Sintra between Sintra and Alcântara-Terra and the Linha do Oeste from here to Caldas da Rainha opened under the name of Cacém . The station had its function as a separation station since its opening. In the course of the renovation work, which began in 2009 and provides for a four-track expansion of the Linha de Sintra from Monte Abraão to Agualva / Cacém, the station was no longer named after the location freguesia, but after the city, Agualva / Cacém.

Rail traffic plays a major role in regional traffic, but has not been served by long-distance trains since 1995, when the last Intercidades trains ran between Lisbon Rossio and Lisbon Santa Apolónia to Leiria .

The station is powered by four daily Interregional -Zugspaaren between Lisbon Entrecampos Poente and Caldas da Rainha via Linha do Oeste operated, with a further Coimbra is extended.

Bus transport

The station is also an important hub for bus transport, with a total of 12 lines operated by three bus companies ( Vimeca , Rodoviária de Lisboa and Scotturb ) run from here.

Equipment and facility

The station is designed to be handicapped accessible and there are lifts leading to the platforms. In addition to a waiting room, there is also a café in the reception building. The station has three tracks, the reception building is on the right-hand side and is connected to the track system via a side platform. The other two tracks are on a central platform. In the past, the station had five tracks - one side and two middle platforms. The two tracks closest to the station building were removed and replaced by pedestrian walkways.

  • According to REFER, the renovation of the station will be completed in August 2011.
  • As part of a planned expansion, the SATU monorail will initially be extended in a second construction phase to Lagoas Park from today's terminus Oeiras -Fórum and then finally in the third section via Tagus Park to Agualva / Cacém station in order to connect the Linha de Sintra with the Link to Linha de Cascais .
