history

Ostermiething station (January 2015)

The railway line from Bürmoos to Trimmelkam was built from 1949 as one of the last railway lines in the country and went into operation on April 1, 1951. The standard-gauge line, electrified with 1000 volts direct current , is usually referred to locally as the local line , together with the Salzburg – Lamprechtshausen line . In Bürmoos it branches off from the aforementioned local railway, with which it is closely related in terms of operations. The branch line to Trimmelkam has been operated by the Salzburger Stadtwerke since the beginning of 1993 - which was incorporated into Salzburg AG in 2000 - and is integrated into the network of the Salzburg S-Bahn as the S11. Some of the trains run continuously to and from Salzburg local train station . Until the end of 1992 the Trimmelkamer railway line was operated by the Stern & Hafferl Verkehrsgesellschaft , which meant that passengers were generally obliged to change trains in Bürmoos. Freight traffic originally played an important role for the Salzach-Kohlenbergbau-Gesellschaft (SAKOG), which was also decisive for the construction of the line. Passenger traffic was only started on May 18, 1952.

Following a resolution by the Upper Austrian provincial government, the railway line was extended by around three kilometers via Diepoltsdorf to Ostermiething . The groundbreaking took place in November 2013, and the extension to the timetable change was opened on December 12, 2014. The new terminus with two tracks is located on the outskirts of Ostermiething. An originally envisaged route extension to Burghausen or Braunau is no longer pursued.

In the spring of 2015, a request stop was set up in the Stiegl-Gut Wildshut area with the name "Gut Wildshut", which is located between the regular stops in Wildshut and Eiferding. The architectural implementation was carried out by Christine Kapsreiter, who was also responsible for the renovation of the Stiegl-Gut. The stop was put into operation at the same time as the beer estate opened in May 2015.
