Bale ( Italian Valle ) is a municipality in the Istria County , Croatia . The number of inhabitants of the municipality in 2011 was 1,127. Bale is officially bilingual in Italian and Croatian. The Istrian language is also spoken. At the 2011 census, 219 people - 19.43% of the population - said Italian as their first language. This is one of the highest values in Istria.
history
Remains of a Roman castrum testify to the long history of the community. The houses in the old town are located on a karst hill and are arranged in two concentric circles. Worth seeing in Bale are the Palazzo Sorardo-Bembo with its two square towers, remains of a monastery, the loggia and the neo-baroque parish church of St. Julian (San Giuliano) from 1880.
tourism
About seven kilometers southwest of the town center there are two large campsites on the Adriatic coast. Originally they were free of charge, but for a few years now you have to pay for the stands.
