Bargłów Kościelny ( Lithuanian Barglavas ) is a village in Powiat Augustowski in the Podlaskie Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with about 5550 inhabitants.
geography
The village is in the west of the powiat. The district town of Augustów is ten kilometers northeast, Rajgród about eight kilometers southwest. The community is dominated by agriculture .
history
The region came to Prussia in 1795 with the Third Partition of Poland and to the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807 after the Peace of Tilsit . After the Congress of Vienna it was in 1815 part of the newly formed, to Russia associated Congress Poland .
In 1954 the rural community was divided into Gromadas and re-established on January 1, 1973. From 1975 to 1998 the town and municipality were part of the Suwałki Voivodeship . The rural community has belonged to the Podlaskie Voivodeship and Powiat Augustowski since 1999, which were newly or re-established.

The rural community (gmina wiejska) Bargłów Kościelny includes 30 villages with school offices (sołectwa). The municipality has an area of 187.6 km² and 5545 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

The following are entered in the voivodeship's national list of monuments:
- Parish church from 1883 with enclosure, gate and four chapels from the second half of the 19th century as well as the rectory from 1908.
- The part of the cemetery laid out in the 19th century.

The village is located on the former national road DK61 from Warsaw to Kaunas in Lithuania . This now runs as the S61 expressway ( Via Baltica - E67 ) through the southern part of the district .
