August Barthold Theodor Viktor von Quistorp (born April 6, 1825 in Göttingen , † July 1, 1913 in Eisenach ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and military writer.

Life

origin

Barthold came from the Western Pomeranian manor family v. Quistorp and was the son of the Hanoverian captain Erich v. Quistorp (1794–1830) and his wife Wilhelmine, née Heise (1798–1863), a niece of the legal scholar Georg Arnold Heise .

Military career

After attending grammar school in his hometown, Quistorp joined the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on April 1, 1844 and was promoted to second lieutenant until September 1845 . In 1848 he took part in the barricade fighting in Berlin, in the campaign against Denmark and in 1849 in the campaign in Baden. From 1850 to 1853 Quistorp graduated from the General War School .

During the German War he took part in the Battle of Gitschin and the Battle of Königgrätz . For this he was awarded the Order of the Crown III. Awarded class with swords. In the Franco-Prussian War Quistorp took part in several battles and in the siege of Paris . For this he received the Iron Cross 1st Class in 1871 .

In 1875 Quistorp became the commandant of Diedenhofen and in 1878 as major general in command of the Spandau fortress . Under awarding of the character he was on 6 December 1883 the legal as Lieutenant General Board for disposition made. He moved to Eisenach and did military history research.

After his departure , Quistorp received the star for the Order of the Crown II. Class with Swords in September 1895 and on August 30, 1912 on the occasion of the centenary of the infantry regiment "Graf Bose" (1st Thuringian) No. 31 the star for the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves.

family

Quistorp married Anna Gordon Spence on September 22, 1853 in Stuttgart (* July 31, 1830; † March 2, 1906). The couple had several children:
