Old Bartholomew Church

The old Bartholomäuskirche is a fortified church from the 13th century. Its establishment in 1232 is probably related to the work of the Knights Templar . The Romanesque church is located in Szobiszowice at the intersection of ul. Toszecka and ul. Floriańska, together with the former churchyard that surrounds it, and is the oldest church in the present-day urban area of Gliwice. It was expanded and expanded in the 15th and 16th centuries. Due to its location on a slope and the battlements on the tower, it is likely that it was also used for defense. Since the church of the community became too small by the middle of the 19th century, the new Bartholomäuskirche was built between the years 1907-1911.
