In 1951 the Redemptorists took over the pastoral care in the village and founded the new church on the Holy Cross. The services took place in the cemetery church on the central cemetery and in the Kreuzkirche . In 1953 the parish received a piece of land with an inn in Stare Gliwice to hold church services there. This was transformed into a chapel and consecrated to St. Gerhard Majella. From 1983 the parish of St. Gerhard was also named.

Construction of the church began in 2000. It was designed by the architects Sławomir Kaczorowski and Henryk Górczyński. The first service took place in 2008. On September 11, 2011, the church was consecrated by the bishop of Gliwice Jan Wieczorek (* 1935).
