The Schrotholzkirche St. Georg is a former Roman Catholic church in the Ostropa (Ostroppa) district in Gliwice (Gleiwitz).

history

The church was first mentioned in 1340. The current church building dates back to 1640 at the latest. However, the exact year of construction is not documented. The attached belfry bears the inscriptions 1641 and “parochus ostropiensis”.

On July 15, 1719, the suffragan and Bishop of Leontopolis from Breslau dedicated the church to St. George consecrated. In 1807 the church was raised to a parish. In 1925 the church was replaced by a new neo-baroque building next to it.

The church has not been used since 1926. In 2008 restoration work began.
