Nică Basarab Panduru (born July 11, 1970 in Mârzăneşti , Teleorman County ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach . He played a total of 200 games in the Romanian Divizia A , the Portuguese Primeira Divisão and the Swiss National League A . As a national player, he took part in the 1994 World Cup. He has been without a club since summer 2010.
Career as a player
Panduru's career began in 1987 at the age of 17 in Divizia B at CSM Reșița . Where he played until the end of 1990, when the Romanian giants him Steaua Bucharest in the Divizia A fetched. Panduru made his debut on March 10, 1991 in the away game at FCM Progresul Brăila and was able to fight for a regular place in the second half of the 1990/91 season . At the end of the season, the club reached the runner-up as well as the following season . At the same time he and his team won the Romanian Cup in the final against Politehnica Timișoara in 1992 . This was followed by three Romanian championships in the 1992/93 , 1993/94 and 1994/95 seasons . At international club level, he was able to reach the group stage of the Champions League with his team during this period .
In the summer of 1995, Panduru left Steaua and moved to Benfica Lisbon in Portugal. In the second half of the 1995/96 season he was at Neuchatel Xamax in the Swiss National League A borrowed. In Lisbon he could not prevail due to a protracted injury and was only used in half of the games. After three years, he moved to league rivals FC Porto in 1998 . Here he only made six appearances in the first half of the 1998/99 season and was loaned to SC Internacional in Porto Alegre , Brazil, for half a year in the winter . After his return in the summer of 1999, he moved a second time within Portugal to SC Salgueiros . Again, he was rarely used and thus contributed little to relegation in 2000 . Then he ended his career.
National team
Panduru played 22 games for the Romanian national football team . He made his debut on February 12, 1992 in a friendly against Greece . At first he was only used irregularly under Cornel Dinu . It was not until his previous club coach Anghel Iordănescu was appointed national coach in the summer of 1993 that Panduru was appointed more often and at the beginning of 1994 he was a fixture in the national jersey. In the summer of the same year he was on the squad for the World Cup in the USA . At the beginning of the tournament he found himself on the reserve bench and only made two short appearances against Switzerland and Sweden .
In the following qualification for the European Championship in 1996 , he was again only the role of the supplementary player, who was mostly in the squad, but was only substituted in the final phase of the respective game. In the first half of the year, including the European Championship in England , Panduru was left out. He only returned in a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on September 18, 1996, before playing his last international match on December 14, 1996 against Macedonia as part of qualifying for the 1998 World Cup .
Career as a coach
After the end of his active career, Panduru began a career as a football coach . In summer 2002, succeeding was Ion V. Ionescu head coach of the currently in the Divizia A Ascended Politehnica AEK Timisoara . He was released in October and replaced by Stelian Gherman . A year later in October 2003 he was again coach at "Poli AEK" when the club was in 14th place in the table after nine game days of the 2003/04 season . He finished the season in midfield.
On June 16, 2005, Panduru again took over a newcomer. As the successor to Mircea Rednic at FC Vaslui , he made a false start into the 2005/06 season with a point from five games and then resigned on September 11, 2005 to be replaced by Rednic again. At the end of October 2006, he returned to League 1 as the successor to Marin Ion as head coach of Farul Constanța . He led the club to relegation before he was replaced on June 10, 2007 by Constantin Gache .
In the 2009/10 season , Panduru was general manager of his former club Steaua Bucharest . In May 2010, however, his contract was terminated. Since then he has been unemployed.

Awards
