Bataraza is a Filipino municipality in the province of Palawan .
Bataraza is named after Datu Bataraza Narrazid, an influential local Muslim chief and father of the first mayor of Brooke's Point Datu Sapiodin Narrazid. Bataraza was part of the Brooke's Point parish until 1964.
The main sources of income are agriculture, fishing, and nickel mining and processing.

Bataraza is located on the southern tip of the island of Palawan, about 236 km from Puerto Princesa and 775 km from Manila . The municipality extends about 80 km in a north-east direction to Balabac Street .
In the east it borders Sulu Lake , in the west lies a large mountain range that extends from Mount Mantalingahan , the highest mountain in the province, to Mount Malitub , on which the border with the municipality of Rizal runs. Twenty kilometers off the coast of the municipality, in the South is that among ornithologists known Ursula Iceland Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary . To the west is the South China Sea .

Rio Tuba is one of the most inhabited barangays and known for its nickel ore deposits . Most of the inland barangays can also be reached from Rio Tuba. Nickel mining is very important to the site, the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation's main nickel mine is within its limits.
Others
The largest pearl in the world, the Pearl of Lao Tzu , and Pearl of Lao Tzu named in 1934 by a Muslim Filipino diver in the molluscs belonging Big Giant Clam ( Tridacna gigas , discovered) off the coast Batarazas, then Brook's Point. The pearl has a weight of 6.4 kg.
