Beaufort is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Beaufort Orbagna 1124 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The residents call themselves Beaufortois .
The municipality of Beaufort merged with Orbagna on January 1, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Beaufort-Orbagna. It belonged to the arrondissement of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Saint-Amour .
geography
Beaufort is located around 15 kilometers southwest of the arrondissement capital Lons-le-Saunier on the border with the neighboring Saône-et-Loire department in the Burgundy region . Neighboring communities were:
- Bonnaud in the north,
- Val-Sonnette with Vincelles in the northeast and Vercia in the east,
- Orbagna in the east,
- Rosay in the southeast,
- Cuisia in the south,
- Maynal in the southwest,
- Flacey-en-Bresse to the west (Dép. Saône-et-Loire) and
- Savigny-en-Revermont in the north-west (Dép. Saône-et-Loire).
