The nature reserve (NSG) Beetzendorfer Bruchwald and Tangelnscher Bach is located in the west of the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The nature reserve lies in the area of ​​the communities Beetzendorf and Rohrberg . It covers 139 hectares. The area lies within the quadrangle of Tangeln , Rohrberg, Beetzendorf and Jeeben . It is about two kilometers long in a northeast-southwest direction. It is located on the middle course of the Tangeln stream about 33 to 42 meters above sea ​​level and includes an extensive wetland biotope .

The area was upgraded from a landscape protection area to a nature reserve on July 5, 1978 by the council of the Magdeburg district and is now designated as NSG 0042. The carrier is the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel.

The NSG serves to “protect, preserve and promote vegetation dynamics and water quality as well as the species and communities associated with them, especially the low forest communities”.

The extent of the NSG Beetzendorfer Bruchwald and Tangelnscher Bach corresponds to the FFH area "Tangelnscher Bach und Bruchwälder". In addition to the course of the river with reed beds and large sedge meadows, there are also quarry forests with stocks of alder , ash and English oak as well as grassland areas such as foxtail meadows . Several oaks are designated as natural monuments on the southeast edge .

The area is the habitat and food area of ​​numerous threatened species. Numerous species of birds such as pied flycatchers , kingfisher and gray wagtail breed there. The species of fish include brown trout and brown lamprey . There are also fire salamanders .

The restricted use of the area, for example for hunting, was permitted according to the GDR's Land Culture Act of May 14, 1970 and the associated implementing regulation .
