Behringhausen is a district of Castrop-Rauxel in the Recklinghausen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
Behringhausen is located on the western outskirts of Castrop-Rauxel. In the north and east the district is enclosed by the Duisburg – Dortmund railway line and in the west it borders on the Herne district of Holthausen . In the south, Behringhausen extends to the site of the former Erin colliery . The Landwehrbach flows through Behringhausen in a south-north direction. The area to the west of it is mainly used for agriculture and is designated as a landscape protection area. In the middle of the district there is a larger industrial area and in the east on both sides of Bladenhorster Straße there is a closed residential area.
history
Behringhausen is an old Westphalian peasantry and historically belonged to the county of Mark . Since the 19th century, Behringhausen formed a rural community in the Dortmund district in the Prussian province of Westphalia . The community belonged to the Castrop office and was incorporated into the city of Castrop on April 1, 1902 . Castrop in turn went up in 1926 in the new town of Castrop-Rauxel.
