The Belvedere Zollikon is a wooden platform in the municipality of Zollikon in the canton of Zurich .
Emergence
The artificial structure was designed and built in the summer of 2013 by architecture students at ETH Zurich under the direction of Tom Emerson and his assistants. The Belvedere Zollikon was made possible by the Zolliker Kunstfreunde Association.
The stairs and their oak supports have practically no metal parts; the components of the construction are mortised , covered with leaves or connected with wooden nails.
fire
On August 1, 2019, the viewing platform burned for reasons that are still unknown. For security reasons, access to the stairs was blocked by the Zolliker Kunstfreunde association until the damage could be repaired.
situation
43 steps lead to the viewing platform at a height of eight meters. This offers a view of the city of Zurich and Lake Zurich .
