Regensberg from 1200 to 1798: After the tower was built together with the town in the 13th century, the Habsburg town and castle bought it in 1302. In the period 1409/1417 Regensberg passed to the city of Zurich. A bailiff resided in the castle until 1798.
2nd floor
Regensberg from 1798 - today: From 1798 to 1807, Zurich leased the castle to the last bailiff. From 1807 to 1814 the district governor took over the lease. From 1815 to 1831 Regensberg was the seat of the chief bailiff. In 1832 the castle was sold.
3rd floor
The Regensberg Castle Foundation: In 1881/82 the non-profit society of the Canton of Zurich bought the castle with the fortified tower and in 1883 set up an institution to look after mentally handicapped students. The castle has been owned by the Regensberg Foundation ever since.
4th floor
The tower helmet: Until 1766, the defense tower had a pointed roof helmet, which burned out after a lightning strike and was replaced by a pewter wreath. In the anniversary year 1994, the tower got its helmet back for one year.
