The Vorderhütten observation tower is an observation tower on the Stammerberg in the municipality of Unterstammheim in the canton of Zurich .

Emergence

The tower was built in 1972 by the architect Hanspeter Keller on behalf of the municipality of Unterstammheim .

situation

Hiking trails lead from the Unterstammheim church to the observation tower in around 45 minutes.

The tower made of wood is 12.5 meters high. 55 steps lead to the viewing platform.

The tower offers a view of the Stammertal. When visibility is good, you can see the entire Alpine range from the Säntis to the Bernese Oberland. The lookout point, where the tower stands today, used to belong to the Zurich network of high watchdogs that monitored the canton.
