The Hochwacht Wildensbuch observation tower is located on the Hochwacht , a hill above Wildensbuch, a part of the village of Trüllikon in the canton of Zurich .
Data
The wooden tower is 37 meters high, 8.5 meters wide and was inaugurated in spring 2010. Four solid Douglas fir trunks form the main frame. The construction weighs around 100 tons. Another 150 tons were used for the concrete foundation.
history
The tower is a joint project of the former civil parish of Wildensbuch, the political community of Trüllikon and the community of Schlatt TG . The tower is intended to commemorate the dissolution of the civil parish of Wildensbuch.
Around 1650, the Zurich rulers had one of a total of 23 Hochwachten built in the canton of Zurich on the hill above Wildensbuch. The high watch served as an alarm system. All 23 high watchers were able to transmit a signal within 15 minutes. The most famous Zurich Hochwachten were on the Lägern , the Irchel and the Uetliberg . In 1870 the Hochwachten system was used for the last time during the Franco-German War .
