Benjamin Clymer (born April 11, 1978 in Bloomington , Minnesota ) is a former American ice hockey player who was last under contract with ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

The 1.85 m tall winger began his career with the Rochester Mustangs in the US Junior League USHL as well as with the University of Minnesota team in the NCAA game operations , before becoming the 27th player in the second round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft Boston Bruins was selected.

Even before he played a single time for the Bruins in the NHL, the right- shooter was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 1999/00 season , where he was part of the permanent staff after only one season. With the Lightning, Clymer won the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career in 2004 .

After the lockout season 2004/05 , which the American spent at EHC Biel in the Swiss National League B , Ben Clymer moved to the Washington Capitals . After he was transferred to the AHL to the Hershey Bears , he moved to the KHL for the 2008/09 season for the Belarusian club HK Dinamo Minsk . For the 2009/10 season he moved to ERC Ingolstadt in the DEL . After one season he moved the Americans to HC Lugano in the Swiss National League A . However, Clymer did not play a game for the Ticino because he was out of play for the entire 2010/11 season due to a knee injury. In May 2011 he was again committed from the ERC Ingolstadt from the DEL. At the end of June 2011, Clymer announced his retirement as an active player, a serious knee injury was cited as the main reason.
