Benjamin "Ben" Lovejoy (born February 20, 1984 in Concord , New Hampshire ) is a former American ice hockey player . The defender played a total of over 600 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins , Anaheim Ducks , New Jersey Devils and Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League . He won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2016 .
Career
Ben Lovejoy began his career as a hockey player at Boston College , for which he was active in the Hockey East in the 2002/03 season . From the 2004/05 season he played for three years for Dartmouth College in the ECAC . At the end of the 2006/07 season he played his first games in the American Hockey League for the Norfolk Admirals . From the 2007/08 season he went on the ice for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . On July 7, 2008 he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins , but was sent to his previous team and farm team of the Penguins, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, at the beginning of the 2008/09 season in the AHL. After good performance in the AHL, Lovejoy made his NHL debut for the Penguins on December 8, 2008 in a game against the Buffalo Sabers , which ended with a score of 3-4 . On December 22, 2010, he scored his first NHL goal in the home game against the Florida Panthers .
On February 6, 2013, he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a five-round suffrage in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft . Lovejoy established himself as a regular player and spent almost two years in Anaheim before returning to the Penguins in March 2015. In return, the Ducks received Simon Després . In the 2015/16 season Lovejoy won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins , but received no contract beyond the season. As a result, he joined the New Jersey Devils as a free agent in July 2016 . The defender spent almost three seasons there before handing over to the Dallas Stars in February 2019 in exchange for Connor Carrick and a third-round vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft . There he ended the 2018/19 season and then announced the end of his active career.
