Benedikt Pliquett (born December 20, 1984 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Life

Pliquett was born in Hamburg on December 20, 1984 as the son of Rüdiger and Annegret Pliquett, who live in Ahrensburg .

Player career

Benedikt Pliquett played for SSC Hagen Ahrensburg and VfL Oldesloe before moving to the amateurs of Hamburger SV for three and a half years in 2000 .

After five months at VfB Lübeck II, the 199 cm tall goalkeeper moved to FC St. Pauli in 2004 , for whom he played in the Regionalliga Nord and for the second team in the Oberliga Nord . From April 6, 2008, the 27th matchday of the 2007/08 season , Pliquett was the goalkeeper of the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga , but with the start of the 2008/09 season he was ousted by the newly signed Mathias Hain and was in the first division season 2010/11 only replacement behind Thomas Kessler . In the 1-0 victory of FC St. Pauli in the Volksparkstadion on February 16, 2011, Pliquett made his debut in the top German division. There he advanced to a guarantee of victory against city rivals Hamburger SV with a good performance . He made four more games in the season that ended with relegation to the Bundesliga. In January 2010, Pliquett extended his contract by two years until the end of the 2011/12 season , in which he came to ten second division games behind the new regular goalkeeper Philipp Tschauner . In February 2012, he extended his contract for a further year to June 30, 2013. In May 2013, Pliquett's contract term was extended for another year.

On September 2, 2013, Pliquett moved to SK Sturm Graz . There he completed 31 competitive games in two years. In the summer of 2015 he joined Atlético Baleares . For the Spanish third division club, Pliquett made 20 games in the 15/16 season. He then ended his career at the age of 31. In addition to persistent physical problems, Pliquett stated that he no longer felt comfortable in professional business.

Others

As the “museum sponsor of the team”, Pliquett has supported Fabian Boll since the opening of the 2013/14 season in setting up an FC St. Pauli Museum in the back straight of the Millerntor Stadium. He has also been active against right-wing extremism since 2005 . Here he works with the project Laut gegen Nazis and is a sponsor of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation . According to his own statement, this commitment is very important to him and he emphasizes that, in his opinion , the DFB is doing too little against right-wing extremism in football.

After retiring, Pliquett worked in the real estate business. He also runs the "Alkotheke" bar in Hamburg and is the managing partner of three sex shops.
