Benito Bause

Benito Bause (* 1991 in Warstein ) is a German actor .

Life

Benito Bause grew up in Lüdenscheid ( Sauerland ) and Hanover . His father, a German-Italian, is a psychiatrist and neurologist , his mother comes from Tanzania and is a children's book author. After graduating from high school, he did a voluntary social year at the Music Academy Zanzibar , where he gave German and guitar lessons. After reading a book by the Polish theater theorist and director Jerzy Grotowski and a live theater experience with Ulrich Matthes at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , Bause finally decided on a career as an actor.

From 2013 to summer 2017 he studied acting at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .

As part of his studies, he was a member of the drama studio at the Neue Theater Halle from summer 2015 to 2017 , where he a. a. worked with directors Matthias Brenner , Nick Hartnagel and Katharina Brankatschk . In 2016 he was awarded the Marina Busse Solo Prize at the Theatertreffen German-speaking drama students for his portrayal of Moritz Stiefel in Spring Awakening . In 2017 he also received the theater award of the Freundeskreis des Neuen Theater Halle as “Best Actor of the 2016/2017 Season” for his embodiment of Salem (“Ali”) in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Angst Eats Seele auf (director: Matthias Brenner). Under Brenner's direction, he also played Driss in a stage version of Pretty Best Friends at Theater Halle in the 2016/17 season (by Gunnar Dressler based on the eponymous film by Éric Toledano & Olivier Nakache ). Bause continued to perform on the stage at Theater Halle in both roles until 2019.

Bause has had his first permanent engagement at the Schauspielhaus Zürich since the 2017/18 season . There he stepped u. a. as Cyryll in Yvonne, the Burgundy Princess of Witold Gombrowicz , as Laertes in Hamlet (Premiere: September 2018, Director: Barbara Frey ), in the Georg Kreisler Evening Exclusively Inland (Director: Nikolaus Habjan ), as a medical student Morten Schwarzkopf in Buddenbrooks ( 2017-2018, director: Bastian Kraft ) and as Claudio in Maß für Maß (2018, director: Jan Bosse ).

In the five-part TV series Gipfelstürmer - Das Berginternat , broadcast on ZDF between April 2019 and July 2020 , Bause played one of the leading roles, the mountain bike coach Byron Grimm.

Bause lives in Munich .
