Benzendorf is a Franconian village in the northern Albrand region .
geography
The village is one of 17 parts of the municipality Eckental in the northeastern part of Middle Franconia . It is located in the open, about 4.5 kilometers northeast of the center of Eckental and is traversed by the Rüsselbach, a tributary of the Schwabach .
history
Benzendorf, like most of the villages in the area, was founded between 1050 and 1150. The place first appeared in a document in 1195. The Weißenhohe monastery called the village "Beislendorf". Around 1500 Benzendorf belonged to the imperial city of Nuremberg and was Protestant.
As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Benzendorf became an independent rural community with the second municipal edict , which also included the two villages of Illhof and Oedhof . In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the entire Benzendorf community became part of the newly formed Eckental community in 1972. The assignment of the Evangelical parish of Benzendorf to the parish of Kirchrüsselbach remained in place. In 2019 Benzendorf had 41 inhabitants.
traffic
The district road ERH 12 runs through Benzendorf and, coming from the north-west of Mittelrüsselbach , leaves the town southwards in the direction of Herpersdorf . A community road leads to the neighboring village of Oedhof to the east.
Attractions
There are four monuments, including one dating from the second half of the 19th century in the village of Benz hops barn .
