history

The land area of the imperial city of Nuremberg

Ebach was first mentioned in a document in 1356 under the name "Eybach". Until the beginning of the 19th century, the place was under the sovereignty of the imperial city of Nuremberg . The village and community rulership, which is decisive in the Franconian region for successfully claiming state sovereignty , was exercised by the Landalmosenamt Nürnberg . With regard to the jurisdiction of the higher courts , the place, which at the time consisted of 19 properties, was divided: in this regard, one part was subordinate to the Nuremberg nursing office Hiltpoltstein in its function as Fraischamt , while the other part was in the high court district of the Schnaittach district judge belonging to the Electorate of Palatinate-Baiern . A profound change for Ebach occurred in 1806, when the imperial city of Nuremberg was annexed by the Kingdom of Bavaria in breach of the imperial constitution . Together with the remaining rural area of the imperial city, Ebach also became Bavarian.

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Ebach became part of the independent rural community of Herpersdorf with the second municipal edict in 1818, to which the hamlet of Mausgesees also belonged. In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , Ebach was incorporated into the newly formed Eckental market together with the entire Herpersdorf community on July 1, 1972. Ebach had 199 inhabitants in 1987.
