Berliner Reigen is a German feature film from 2006 based on the play Der Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler . It is a diploma film from the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" Potsdam-Babelsberg . Directed by Dieter Berner . The relay race of love affairs through the Viennese society at the turn of the century in the original drama from 1903 was moved to Berlin in 2006 after just over 100 years .
action
As an episode film, the film leads ten characters in a dance through Berlin society: a prostitute is cheated out of her wages by a dealer , the dealer seduces an illegal cleaning lady in the next scene, who is turned on by her employer's son in the third scene . However, he falls seriously in love with an acquaintance of his parents who has problems with her husband, who in turn is interested in his dental assistant. The sweet dental assistant gets involved with the apparently hardened celebrity photographer, who, however, has had a " kindred spirit " and an affair with a celebrated film actress for a long time . This in turn begins a Techtel-Mechtel with the count at a public event, who - so the round ends - ends up drunk in the prostitute's dump in the last scene. The highlight of the film is also a vernissage in which the characters from the episodes are brought together.

It was shot on 25 days of shooting in winter 2005/2006, mainly in Potsdam and Berlin on selected motifs . Scenes were created in apartments in villas and apartment buildings in Potsdam, as well as in the ice rink (episode 2) and palace gardens in Charlottenburg (episode 7), in Monbijoupark, in the Berliner Straße exterior of Studio Babelsberg (episode 8), and in the former Palace of the Republic in Berlin (episode 9).
For the scene of the photographer's big vernissage , where all the figures involved meet towards the end of the film, the Berlin photographer Joachim Gern, who also took the poster photo for the film, provided photos. These scenes were realized a few days before the former Volkskammer building was demolished .
The entire production is a collaboration between the different departments at the producing film school in the media city of Babelsberg . The courses in Acting , Screenwriting / Dramaturgy , Cinematography , Sound / Film Music and Editing were involved.
