Bernd Gersdorff (born November 18, 1946 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

societies

Gersdorff began his career in 1965 in the Regionalliga Berlin with the previous year's title holder Tennis Borussia and in 1969 moved to the Bundesliga for Eintracht Braunschweig . For the violets he scored 45 goals in 100 games. He also completed 13 promotion round games in 1967 and 1968 , in which he scored three goals.

His Bundesliga debut on August 16, 1969 (1st matchday) ended with a 2: 3 defeat at 1. FC Cologne ; He scored his first Bundesliga goal a week later in the home game against Hannover 96 with a headbutt in the 90th minute to make it 1-1.

In Braunschweig, the striker immediately became a regular player and also attracted the attention of the German champions FC Bayern Munich . For the 1973/74 season he moved to Bayern and was in the starting lineup from matchday 1 to matchday 12. In the legendary game on October 20, 1973 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern (it ended 4-1 despite Bayern's 4-1 lead for 1. FCK because they scored six goals in the last half hour) he shot the first two goals, which were also his only ones in Bayern dress. Since he was always used in the Bayern storm in the unloved left wing position, he switched back to Eintracht Braunschweig from the later German champions during the current season with effect from November 1, 1973. Although he came back late in the 1973/74 season , he was still top scorer of the Regionalliga Nord with 35 goals in only 19 completed games (1.84 goals per game) and thus played a major role in the championship and promotion to the Bundesliga. During the winter break of the 1976/77 season , he moved to Hertha BSC . With the Berliners he developed into one of the most popular players and remained so until his last Bundesliga game on January 19, 1980 (18th matchday). With the encounter between Eintracht Braunschweig and Hertha BSC (3-1) and his substitution in the 46th minute against Holger Brück , his career of 301 games and 68 goals in Germany ended. At the end of his football career, he moved to the USA , where he was active for the San José Earthquakes and the San Diego Sockers in the North American Soccer League (NASL).

Gersdorff took part in the games of northern Germany in the DFB regional cup on September 10, 1969 and on October 29, 1969 against West Germany and Berlin. In the 3-2 victory in the intermediate round in Berlin, he scored both goals for the North German selection. The tournament was not ended, however.

National team

On September 3, 1975 Gersdorff was in the starting line-up of the senior national team , which defeated the Austrian national team 2-0 in Vienna with two goals from Erich Beer , his future team-mate at Hertha BSC ; it remained Gersdorff's only A international match . However, on October 8, 1975, he played an international match for the B national team , which won 2-0 against Romania's selection in Duisburg .
