The Biedermeier cycle path is a continuously paved cycle path opened in 1999 through the Piestingtal in Lower Austria . The valley is marketed by tourism as the "Biedermeier Valley" because some Biedermeier artists stayed here in the first half of the 19th century .
The core of the cycle path leads along the Piesting from Markt Piesting ( 335 m above sea level ) via Ober-Piesting ( 350 m above sea level ), Wopfing ( 360 m above sea level ), Waldegg ( 402 m above sea level). ), Oed ( 392 m above sea level ), Reichental ( 400 m above sea level ), Ortmann ( 422 m above sea level ), Pernitz ( 430 m above sea level ), Gutenstein ( 481 m above sea level ) ) the Rohrer Sattel ( 864 m above sea level ) to Rohr im Gebirge ( 683 m above sea level ).

criticism
In its annual report 1996–1999, the environmental advocacy of the state of Lower Austria described the Biedermeier cycle path as “a route that is quite successful from the point of view of cyclists and also very well accepted by this target group”, but as a “negative example” “from a constitutional point of view, as well as from the View of nature conservation and from a hydraulic engineering point of view ".
Almost 10 years later, the areas in question have been rehabilitated and the problems have largely been resolved, so that the state of Lower Austria is also co-financing the completion of the cycle path and the gap to EuroVelo 9 from regional funding with around € 900,000.

[…] The entrance is right next to a long ladder […] in the following room there is a rusted spotlight on the wall on the right […] it was probably intended to illuminate the mountain milk and sinter bulges opposite.
