Muggendorf is a municipality in the Wiener Neustadt-Land district in Lower Austria with 517 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Muggendorf is located in the industrial district in the valley of the Myrabach , a northern tributary of the Piesting . The Myrabach valley is framed by steep limestone cliffs, of which Hausstein is the best known. The area of the municipality covers 50.93 square kilometers. 90.6 percent of the area is forested.

Neighboring communities
history
Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg , which was the main town for the entire north-east Noricum .
Later under the Romans, today's Muggendorf was then in the province of Pannonia .

According to the 2001 census data , 79.8% of the population are Roman Catholic and 3.8% Protestant . 1.7% are Muslims , 0.6% belong to Orthodox churches . 9.8% of the population have no religious denomination.

In 2001 there were 20 non-agricultural workplaces, and according to the 1999 survey there were 28 in agriculture and forestry. The number of people in work at the place of residence was 244 according to the 2001 census. In 2001 the employment rate was 48.65 percent.
