William Earl "Bill" Lee (born August 19, 1911 in Eutaw , Alabama , USA ; † June 23, 1998 , ibid) was an American American football player . He played as an offensive tackle in the NFL .

Player career

The 188 cm tall and 105 kg heavy Bill Lee first played at college at the University of Alabama . In 1935 he received a contract offer from the Brooklyn Dodgers to an NFL team from New York City . In 1937 he switched to the Green Bay Packers during the season , where he was responsible for protecting the quarterbacks Arnie Herber and Cecil Isbell . At the same time, he had the task of Isbell, who also came up as tailback , to block the way into the opposing end zone . In 1939 Lee was able to win the NFL championship with the Packers 27-0 against the New York Giants . In 1942 he ended his career to play again in 1946 for four games for the Packers. Bill Lee is buried in Mesopotamia Cemetery in the city of his birth.

Honors

Lee is a member of the NFL 1930s All-Decade Team . He was voted All-Pro twice and played in a Pro Bowl .
