Charles Robert Goldenberg , (born March 10, 1910 in Odessa , now Ukraine , † April 16, 1986 in Glendale , Wisconsin ) Nickname : "Buckets" was an American football player . He played among other things on the position of the guard in the National Football League (NFL).

career

Goldenberg was born in Russia but grew up in the United States after his parents emigrated. Goldenberg received a scholarship in 1930 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was in their American football team in various positions. In 1933 he joined the Green Bay Packers in the NFL and was set up there in the early years as a running back and was able to achieve 42 points in his first season. However, Goldenberg played mostly in the offensive line and was mainly used in the course of his career to set blocks. Goldenberg was able to win the NFL championship three times with the Packers. 1938 against the New York Giants with 23:17, in 1939 again against the Giants with 27: 0 and in 1944 the Giants were beaten again with 14: 7. 1945 after 120 games in the NFL Goldenberg ended his career. After his career he ran a restaurant. Charles Goldenberg was buried in the Spring Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Milwaukee after his death .

Honors

Goldenberg is a member of the NFL 1930s All-Decade Team , the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame , the Packers All-Time Team and, since 1993, the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame . His former club honored him with the induction into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame .
