biography

Heeb first attracted attention at the Junior World Championship in 1991 when she finished tenth in the Super-G . On December 15, 1991, she competed in her first World Cup race , the Super-G in Santa Caterina , but could not classify herself as 50th in the points. She took part in her first Winter Olympics in Albertville in 1992 and was 20th in the combined. In 1993 she competed at the World Championships in Morioka and the following year at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . There she reached eleventh place in the giant slalom.

The first World Cup points followed on November 26th, 1994 with a great fourth place in the Park City giant slalom . She was able to repeat this result shortly afterwards in Vail . In this 1994/95 season she finished tenth in the giant slalom discipline. Then she was able to achieve top ranks in the giant slalom in the World Cup. At the 1996 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , she was seventh in the giant slalom and ninth at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .

On November 19, 1998, the first podium in the World Cup at the giant slalom in Park City followed with third place. There were also further top ten placements and at the end of the 1998/99 season sixth place in the giant slalom World Cup . At the 1999 World Championships in Vail she was twelfth in her specialty after a serious mistake in the second round. In the following season 1999/2000 she reached second place behind Anna Ottosson in the giant slalom in Cortina d'Ampezzo and was able to take third place twice on the podium ( Lienz 1999 and Bormio 2000). She finished seventh in the giant slalom discipline. At the 2001 World Championships in St. Anton , she surprisingly came fifth in the giant slalom after a rather poor season performance.

The first and only World Cup victory followed in their last season 2002/03 on November 21, 2002 at the giant slalom in Park City. She won the race ahead of Alexandra Meissnitzer and Janica Kostelić . At the 2003 World Championships in St. Moritz , she was tenth in the giant slalom. In March 2003 she announced her retirement from active ski racing.

Heeb has been married to the journalist and politician Alexander Batliner since autumn 2001 and has two children, a son and a daughter.
