Björn Andersson (born July 20, 1951 in Perstorp ) is a former Swedish football player .

Career

Andersson was not yet 19 years old to the squad of the first division club Östers IF , for which he was active from 1970 to 1974 in the Allsvenskan , the top division in Swedish football. At the end of the season, on October 27th, he moved to Germany to Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich , for whom he played on November 23rd (14th matchday) in a 2-2 home game against Rot-Weiss Essen - for one half - debuted. He scored his only Bundesliga goal on April 19, 1975 (28th matchday), in a 3-1 win in the home game against Tennis Borussia Berlin , with the interim 1-0 in the 8th minute. In the three seasons for Bayern Andersson played 47 league, 5 DFB-Pokal , 2 world cup games and 11 in the European championship .

In the European Cup final against Leeds United on May 28, 1975 Andersson suffered a serious knee injury after a foul in the 4th minute of the game. It failed until early 1976 and never fully recovered from it.

In 1977 Andersson returned to Sweden and completed three more seasons with his former club, with which he won the national club cup in 1977 and the championship in 1978. He then played two or three seasons at Markaryds IF and Vallentuna BK .

National team

Andersson played 28 international matches for the senior team between 1972 and 1976 and scored one goal. A personal highlight for him was his participation in the 1974 World Cup in Germany, in which he played three times in Group III in the first final round and in Group B in the second final round, in the 1-0 defeat against the Polish national team came. He played his last international match on April 28, 1976 in Vienna in a 0-1 draw against the Austrian national team .

Andersson was active from the mid-1990s at Bayern Munich at youth level, interrupted by an eight-month stay with Sweden IS Halmia in 2000. In the season 2003/04 he was together with Michael Henke assistant coach of Bayern . At the beginning of 2009 he returned to Sweden and took a position at the Svenska Fotbollsakademin in Stockholm to train players and coaches .
