Blake Sloan (born July 27, 1975 in Park Ridge , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who last played in the German Ice Hockey League for EHC Red Bull Munich . Sloan won the Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 1999 , then moved to the Swedish club Timrå IK and from there to Mannheim for the 2006/07 season before playing for Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg between 2009 and 2012 .
Career
Sloan's NHL career also began with the Dallas Stars, for which he came to his first 33 NHL appearances in addition to playing for the Houston Eros farm team , but in which he failed to score two assists. The following season was Sloan's most successful in Texas - in addition to the Stanley Cup victory, the right-shooter was able to get a regular place in the team.
But in the following year, the American came back to only 33 appearances in the North American professional league, so that he switched to the Columbus Blue Jackets during the season . During the 2001/02 season , the defender moved to the Calgary Flames , where he played until the summer of 2003. Sloan was only able to find a new employer in November 2003 when he signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings farm team , the Grand Rapids Griffins from the AHL . A little later, the right-handed shooter received an NHL contract from the Red Wings, but before he was used for the team, the Dallas Stars brought him back on the waiver list. After the expiry of his contract and the failure of the 2004/05 NHL season , Sloan returned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
In 2005, the then 30-year-old dared to start over in Sweden , which eventually brought him to Germany. There he won the German championship and the German ice hockey cup with the Adler Mannheim in the 2006/07 season . After the 2008/09 season , Sloan's contract in Mannheim was not extended and he was hired by league rivals Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . The greatest success here was winning the preliminary round championship in the 2010/11 season . In July 2012 Sloan signed a one-year contract with EHC Red Bull Munich .
